We have the largest fleet on the quay and the most modern boats. They are inspected by the Marine Coastal Agenecy at least three times a year and have full safety equipment. We are also the oldest Company starting in 1887. We had the privilege of transporting Lord Baden Powell to Brownsea Island in 1907, therby starting the Scouting movement.

These are the famous YELLOW boats of Poole.

The Purbeck Coast is a mixture of chalk cliffs and, to the west of Swanage, cliffs of Portland stone, much marked by the old quarries. Once used by smugglers and now by birds. With some luck we may see a Puffin and maybe a dolphin too.

One of the loveliest and most precious coastlines in the world, Dorset has many miles of beautiful beaches, historic towns, award winning resorts and of course the World Heritage Site known as the Jurassic Coast.

Our boats take you from the splendour of Poole Harbour and Sandbanks, often referred to as ‘Millionaire’s Row’ along the Dorset and Hampshire Coastline. Take trips to Swanage and the Jurassic Coast and up the River Frome to Wareham, passing by the sights of the Needles and Christchurch Harbour.

Discover the islands of the south coast with Brownsea Island Ferries cruises. From the islands in Poole Bay, including the National Trust owned Brownsea Island and the beautiful Isle of Wight, this is the way to enjoy these great local attractions.

Poole Harbour Islands

There are eight islands in Poole Harbour, all of which are part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The best known is Brownsea Island, famous for it’s natural flora and fauna, including a thriving Red Squirrel colony and bird colonies and its picturesque beaches and woodlands. It is also closely associated with the history of the Scout Movement.

Poole has been an important harbour town since the 13th Century and the quay still has great charm. It is from here (and Sandbanks) that Poole’s famous yellow boats depart on their trips around the local coastline. These trips take in places such as charming Swanage, which was the centre of thelocal stone industry in Roman times, Wareham, with a history dating back over 2,000 years, and of course, with interest dating back far further, the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
