The Poole Member's Group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in association with Brownsea Island Ferries Ltd have organised a series of guided boat trips with a knowledgable local birdwatcher on board to help and inform.
Winter months show nationally important numbers of Shelduck, Black-tailed Godwit, Avocet and Red-breasted Merganiser. On most trips you will see Great Crested Grebe, Heron, Cormorant, Shag, Brent Geese and Goldeneye, Little Egret, Oystercatchers, Redshank, Curlew and a variety of gulls. There is also a chance of seeing Blackthroated and Great Northern Divers, Blacknecked Grebe, Spoonbill, Scaup, Common Scoter, Eider and Harriers.
Said to be the second largest harbour in the world Poole Harbour offers stunning views.
Make it a weekend.

Guided boat trips in Poole Harbour
Trips leave, weather permitting, from the Yellow Kiosk on Poole Quay at 11.00am, returning at approximately 1.00pm. The boat has both open and covered accommodation and a refreshment bar.

Evening Cruise to the Purbeck Coast
Cruises of three hours reaching the sea-bird cliffs as they come in to roost. We should see Fulmar, Razorbill, Guillemot, Shag, and with any luck Gannet, Puffin, Peregrine, and maybe a dolphin.
The Purbeck Coast is a mixture of chalk cliffs and, to the west of Swanage, cliffs of Portland stone, much marked by the old quarries. Once used by smugglers and now by birds.
Weather conditions may mean cancellation or an alternative.
