The Poole Member’s Group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in association with Brownsea Island Ferries Ltd have organised a series of guided boat trips with a knowledgeable local birdwatcher on board to help and inform.
Winter months show nationally important numbers of Shelduck, Black-tailed Godwit, Avocet and Red-breasted Merganser. On most trips, you will see Great Crested Grebe, Heron, Cormorant, Shag, Brent Geese and Goldeneye, Little Egret, Oystercatchers, Redshank, Curlew and a variety of gulls. There is also a chance of seeing Black-throated and Great Northern Divers, Black-necked Grebe, Spoonbill, Scaup, Common Scoter, Eider and Harriers.
Said to be the second-largest harbour in the world Poole Harbour offers stunning views.
Make it a weekend.
